Hypnosis Q&A

While you may not be able to be hypnotized to perform in a stage show, I can almost guarantee you can experience and benefit from the state of hypnosis. If you ever get lost in a daydream or feel the emotional rollercoaster of a movie you’re watching, you’re able to be hypnotized.

No. Hypnosis is more like a daydream that you can snap out of at any time. Even if the hypnotist were to… faint… let’s not kill him yet… the person would just naturally come back to their normal state of awareness after some time.

Just like that driving daydream that ends when the light changes, or the video game trance that terminates instantly when you walk in front of the TV, a person can’t get stuck in hypnosis.

Yes they will because of two reasons: First, I don’t want your secrets and you certainly won’t just divulge them. Second, when your hypnotized you are sharper and more focused, which would make it harder to extract your secrets than when you’re on your normal waking state.

Nope. During the show there are only lighthearted and fun routines which I’m sure you’re okay with. Again, you’re sharper than usual while in hypnosis (sorry!) so if something is asked of you that you don’t want to do, answer, perform, etc. you’ll simply ignore the suggestion or respond appropriately. You’re never asleep nor without your will when you’re hypnotized.

Like any tool, it can be dangerous in the wrong hands like those of dictators and cult leaders. For the most part though, hypnosis is a phenomenal tool to create lasting personal change in a good way.

It’s not a pass or fail test so there’s nothing to be scared of. Hypnosis is a very natural state and even if for some reason you can’t be hypnotized while at the show it doesn’t mean that hypnosis won’t work for you. The degree to which hypnosis works is extended with belief, good rapport, the right conditions for you… whatever those are. If you want it and allow it to work, then it will. If you’re actively trying to stop the suggestions or trying to hard to “make it work” then it likely won’t

Hypnosis is commonly used to get rid of useless and negative habits like smoking or nail biting, pain, anxiety and fear relief, to improve athletic, personal and professional performance, and much more.

Not at all. But why wouldn’t you!? You can start by enjoying the low-commitment, full audience exercises, and if everything feels right you may want to join me on stage. It is 100% up to you though, the show is enjoyable from both perspectives!

Sometimes the type of shock inductions that happen during a show make a person so relaxed that the only place to go is down. If it happens to you please relax and enjoy, it’s natural! And if it happens to another audience member, I assure you they’re having a great time!

NOTE: I always place a clean cloth on the floor when there’s a chance my guest will end up on the floor.

Yes I can. Most likely. Please contact me at http://laketahoehypnosis.com

There is a large amount of content online where you can start learning, you can also attend in-person and online conferences, join the large and lively community of hypnotists worldwide –  and when you know what style of hypnosis you enjoy, I’d recommend enrolling in a longer certification program.

Most people agree it feels like a daydream but this also depends on what it is being used for. In a therapy setting many say it’s very relaxing – while in the show setting it’s common to hear that it’s like a pleasant but confusing daydream. You must experience it firsthand to really know.
